“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The longest chapter in the Word of God is Psalm 119.
Of the 176 verses, only a very few are without a reference to the Word.
Is it any coincidence that the longest chapter focuses on the Word Itself?
There are none with Him.
“In the beginning…”
The Gospel according to John begins with the same three words that Genesis does.
John begins by explaining that the Word was not only also in the beginning with God, but in fact the Word was God.
“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
The Word made everything.
All that was created was made by the Word of God.
In Him was and is Life.
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
Life is given to all who believe in Him.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
The Word came.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
He came for one purpose.
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
The Word of God…the Son of God…Jesus Christ, came so that one day some 33 years later, He could die on a cross for the sins of the world.
Three days and three nights later, the Word rose again.
His victorious resurrection enables us to receive the free Gift of salvation…Him.
The Word came, died and rose again so that we could live.
“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
