Philippians 2:5-8
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God willingly chose to humble Himself and become a Servant. In the context of this passage, the Apostle Paul was exhorting the church of Philippi to be like Christ. The same applies to us today…”Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”. He was not worried about what others thought of Him. He was willing to make Himself the Servant of Servants. He was robed in human flesh just like us. He tempted just like us, yet He did not sin. He humbled Himself far beneath Who He truly was and is. He was obedient, even unto death. He suffered and willingly died on the cross for us. The Servant of Servants is our Ultimate Example of what it means to serve. The only way we can strive to have “this mind” is to strive to become more like Him. We need no reputation. May others see Him. Are we serving others or serving ourselves? Pride and humility cannot coexist. Are we obedient? Even if it costs us our lives? Mark 8:35 “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.” Dying to ourselves daily is part of walking with the Lord; but someday, we may be forced to decide whether we are willing to die for our faith. If we will choose to let the mind of Christ be in us, we too can become a true servant for His glory. Acts 20:24 “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Bible Reading: Judges 1-2 | Acts 20
