April 29 - Choose Humility.

Proverbs 25:6-7
“Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.”
 
There is Wisdom in waiting to be called upon and invited rather than placing ourselves in the spotlight.
 
Proverbs 16:19
“Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.”
 
Humility is a rare quality today.
We are taught by society to bask ourselves with pride of who we are and what we can do. However, the Bible teaches us the exact opposite of what the world desires.
 
Jesus spoke clearly of the effects that pride and humility will have on us.
Matthew 23:12
“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
 
When we try to exalt ourselves to higher ground, we only sink lower.
Yet, when we choose to wait with a humble spirit and allow the Lord to work for us, He will give us grace to lift us up.
 
James 4:6,10
“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble…Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
 
Choose humility today.
God will reward your efforts and exalt you in His timing.
 
1 Peter 5:6
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
