Psalm 119:93
“I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.” Oh, that we would all say this about our lives! May we seek to live in such a way that we cannot forget the Word of God because It has made us feel so alive. The Scriptures give us life, because Jesus is the Life. John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus is not only the Way, the Truth, and the Life, but He is also the Word. John 1:1-4 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” When we forget the Word of God, we forget the God of the Word. Deuteronomy 8:11 “Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:” Forgetting God’s Word, leads to forgetting God’s works. Deuteronomy 8:12-16 “Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;” Forgetting God’s Works leads to wrong thinking. Deuteronomy 8:17 “And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.” There are progressive results when we forget the Word of God; and in order to avoid them, we must not forget the Word in the first place. Deuteronomy 8:18-20 “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we cannot forget the Word of God.
