Proverbs 29:26
“Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.” We live in a world where seeking the favour of those in authority is often viewed as a way to obtain our own power. Those that actively seek the favour of an earthly ruler most likely have an agenda. Proverbs 19:6 “Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.” Earthly favour is temporary. We need only do one thing to risk losing the favour of an authority figure. Their approval is often based on their own interest. 2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Heavenly favour is eternal. When we seek the approval of the Ruler of rulers, His favour surpasses anything we can receive from man. We are wiser to seek God’s favour, which cannot be obtained by our works or good deeds. By seeking His favour, we are seeking Him. Deuteronomy 4:29 “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Seek His face today. 1 Chronicles 16:11 “Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” Bible Reading: Job 15-16 | 1 Peter 4 | Proverbs 14
