A thief may lack bread, but an adulterer lacks wisdom.
Proverbs 6:30-35 “Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.” Our unfaithfulness to God is spiritual adultery, the effects of which are shown through the state of our prayer life. If we choose to be friends with the world, we are at enmity with God. James 4:3-4 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” If we are not seeing prayers answered, it is wise to evaluate our spiritual condition. Once we are saved, our relationship with God cannot change; but our fellowship with Him depends upon the state of our hearts. Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Bible Reading: Job 23-24 | 1 John 3 | Proverbs 22
