Luke 2:6
“And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.” She. She had carried Jesus in her womb for the required time. Prophecy had been declared that Christ would be born in Bethlehem. Micah 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” She and Joseph were in Galilee, in the city of Nazareth. Caesar Augustus made a decree that all were required to pay taxes. Luke 2:1 “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.” Because he was of the lineage of David, this required Joseph to return to Bethlehem. Luke 2:4-5 “And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.” Mary the Mother of Jesus also serves as an example of how Christ will guide our steps to exactly when and where He desires us to be.
