Proverbs 18:8-9
“The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.” A talebearer is a whisperer of lies who habitually murmurs. The damage they cause is more than what can been seen or heard, but rather is often felt deep within the heart of the one they chatter about. The bitter pill that they try to pass from person to person ends up being swallowed, causing a root of bitterness to grow within them. The best way to defeat the act of talebearing is to remove the wood of the fires of their tongue by refusing to listen to what they have to say. Proverbs 26:20 “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.” A slothful person is drains the time and energy of those working around them. The sluggish do more harm than good. Often wanting to appear busy for the credit rather than laboring for the purpose. Hebrews 6:10-12 “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Our time to work for Christ is drawing to an end; we must use our time wisely for His glory. There is no time to be slothful in sharing the Gospel to those around us. Bible Reading: Haggai | 2 Peter 3 | Proverbs 26
