“And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.”
Many times throughout the pages of Scripture we find people at the feet of Jesus.
This is not an accident nor a coincidence; for there are none of those within the inspired and preserved Word of God.
It is also noteworthy that many, if not most, of these people were women. From this, we can glean many Truths to our lives of what may be found… at His feet.
One of those women was an unnamed woman who is only referred to as a sinner.
“And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,”
She was a woman, and she was a sinner.
That means we ALL qualify!
Perhaps her name is not recorded so that we can better see that we all can relate to her.
She knew Jesus was in the Pharisee’s house and came with a purpose, as she brought with her an alabaster box of ointment.
She was at the feet of Jesus for a purpose…
She sincerely washed His feet with her tears, wiped them with the hairs of her head, and then anointed His feet with the ointment.
She did all of this to express her faith in Him.
“Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”
Her faith in Him made the difference.
She was changed at His feet.
She bowed down a sinner, and came up a sinner saved by grace through faith!
