Psalm 119:25
“My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.” When problems are all around us it can affect us physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. Here we see that the Psalmist is cleaving unto the dust. In Genesis we learn that we were made from the dust of the earth, so he is clinging to return to the dust in death. Thankfully, he doesn't stop at his desire to end all of his problems…he sought a Solution. “quicken thou me according to thy word” The word “quicken” means to be made alive. Rather than cleave to the dust where he came from, the Psalmist chose to be made alive by the Scriptures. He knew there was resurrecting power within the Word of God! John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” There is power in His Word, and it is available to us if only we would read and apply it to our lives. Psalm 143:11 “Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must desire to be quickened by the Word of God.
