Psalm 119:3
“They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.” Those that seek the Lord walk in His Word instead of walking in sin. Our flesh craves sin and the pleasures of this world, but the Word tells us that sin has consequences. Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” What can we do to keep sin out of our heart? We can avoid it. Proverbs 4:14-15 “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.” If we see sin around us, we must first stop and recognize it; then choose to turn around and go in a different direction. We can choose to avoid even the appearance of sin. If it appears to be evil…it probably is. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.” When under attack, a soldier must have a plan in order to defeat the enemy. The armour of God consists mostly of defensive armour, but contains one offensive weapon…The Sword of the Spirit. The Bible declares “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword”. We can avoid sin by hiding God’s Word in our heart. Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must avoid the sin in our lives by spending time in His Word.
