Colossians 3:17
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” We externalize our feelings and actions in only two ways – by what we say, or what we do, in word or deed. Each time we express ourselves it is an opportunity to give thanks and glory to God. Paul admonishes the church of Colosse of this Truth. When we are asked to do something, regardless of what it is, we have an opportunity to give thanks to the Lord! Whether it is to speak before a vast audience or pick up trash when no one is watching, we can glorify the One Who has given us the ability to do the task in the first place. If we seek to do all things in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will become more aware of our reactions. Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings:” This is one of the most difficult verses in the Bible to apply to our lives, yet just as inspired as “For God so loved the world”. It is difficult to go an entire day, or maybe even an hour without going against this verse isn’t it? We cannot “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” if we are murmuring or disputing. Convicting thought. It is possible to do all things without murmuring or disputing. How? Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” Seek to use every opportunity today. Do all things in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Name above all names! Bible Reading: II Chronicles 11-12 | I Timothy 4 | Proverbs 14
