June 19 - Working While We Wait.

Proverbs 27:18
“Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.”
 
It takes diligence to reap fruit from a tree or garden.
There is work that must be done before we receive a reward.
 
2 Corinthians 9:6
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
 
God has given each of us a field to keep.
How diligent are we to His cause?
 
Proverbs 22:29
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
 
As we wait for the Lord’s return, we must tend to the harvest fields.
They are white already, just waiting for labourers.
 
John 4:35
“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
 
When He comes, will He find us working?
Our rewards depend on our faithfulness to harvest fruit for Him.
 
Matthew 25:21
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
