Psalm 119:154
“Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word.” When we finally realize that no one else can help us, but the Lord; we find out that He is all we really need. Our Advocate pleads our cause, because He is the only One Who can. 1 John 2:1-2 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” He desires to plead the cause for not only our sins, but for everyone. What a shame that He continues to be rejected by those who think they do not need Him. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” David then makes his own plea, that the Word would strengthen him during his troubles. Psalm 119:143 “Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.” The more we cling to the Word of God, the more faith we will have in His deliverance. We must renew our longing for the Scriptures each day. Psalm 119:40 “Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must plead for the Word to strengthen us in our daily walk with Him.
