Psalm 119:156
“Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy judgments.” God’s mercy towards us is a result of His love for us. Many times throughout the Scriptures His mercies are connected with His lovingkindness. The Word of God teaches us that His mercy and love provided our salvation. Psalm 25:5-7 “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.” Psalm 40:11 “Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.” The Ultimate Example of God’s mercy was displayed in the giving of His Son for us. He is rich in mercy because of His great love for His children. Through Christ we find life, and are given a place to sit at His table in our heavenly home. Ephesians 2:4-7 “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must thank Him for His mercy & love.
