Exodus 15:27
“And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.” After a storm, there is often a peaceful calm that encompasses the sea that once was raging. The disciples witnessed this first hand after Jesus spoke peace to the wind and the waves that rocked their boat. The children of Israel did not have a raging sea after they walked across on dry ground safely to the other side of their problem. Imagine though, when the walls of water came down and “the sea returned to his strength”, how the waves must have ripped the sea that was once divided. When the waves subsided, the sea was once again peaceful. What a reminder of how God speaks peace to our hearts after a storm or when we reach the other side of our Red Sea. Moses and the children of Israel began to sing songs of praise unto the Lord for the victory that He had triumphantly and gloriously provided. When we feel His peace, we too should sing praises unto Him. Their travels then took them though the wilderness of Shur, and then Marah, where there was no water for them to drink. The Lord miraculously provided for them once again. He is Faithful. They then came to Elim, the land of wells of water and 70 palm trees. A peaceful resort for them to rest in all the Lord had done for them. When we go on vacation, most choose to surround themselves with palm trees. Imagine the children of Israel looking up at those 70 palm trees. What a comfort they must have felt after He had provided and came through for them. Resort in Him Psalm 92:12 “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” Rest in Him Psalm 1:3 “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” After the Lord gives you the victory, remember to praise Him and take time to resort and rest in Him. Psalm 71:3 “Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.” Bible Reading: Numbers 1-2 | Luke 12
