Psalm 119:82
“Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?” Our timing is rarely God’s timing. We tend to want things to happen immediately or when we feel is convenient for us, but God does not work that way. We see within His Word time and time again where He chooses to make His people wait until He sees fit for things to happen. The usual example of God’s timing is when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead after arriving four days late according to his sisters. More often than not we can relate with how Mary and Martha felt. Just when we think all hope is gone is when God usually begins to reveal to us that He had been working behind the scenes all along. When? - A Lack of Patience Usually impatience is one of our biggest weaknesses. Waiting is not fun, and it is easy to give up hope or quit praying for God to move. When God makes us wait, He always has something better on the way. Hebrews 10:35-36 “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” When? – A Longing for Provision We can wait patiently while longing for God to provide for us. The maturing Christian has learned that impatience must grow into longsuffering, which comes by yielding to the Holy Spirit as He works within us. Colossians 1:10-12 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:” Regardless of our reasoning for asking “When?” we must remember Who we are waiting on. He is working all things for our good and His glory. We must wait by placing our faith in Him. Psalm 39:7 “And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must learn how to wait on His timing. Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 9-10 | Mark 9 | Psalm 51
