“Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.”
Our Surety. Jesus Christ took our place; and paid the debt that we owed, but could never pay ourselves.
“For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.”
Our Safety. The Word of God tells us many times that Christ provides safety while we journey toward our heavenly home.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
With God on our side we have no need to fear!
“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
No matter what tomorrow holds, we have a Surety in Jesus Christ.
“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must rest in the Surety of Jesus Christ.
