Psalm 119:122
“Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.” Our Surety. Jesus Christ took our place; and paid the debt that we owed, but could never pay ourselves. Hebrews 7:19,22 “For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.” Our Safety. The Word of God tells us many times that Christ provides safety while we journey toward our heavenly home. Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” With God on our side we have no need to fear! Psalm 118:6 “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.” Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” No matter what tomorrow holds, we have a Surety in Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:6 “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must rest in the Surety of Jesus Christ.
