“He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.”
There are two types of messengers – the faithful and the foolish.
“A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.”
The Lord Jesus Christ did not give the Great Commission to everyone.
He did not tell those that did not believe on Him. Someone that does not know Christ cannot rightfully speak of Him.
It was His disciples that He told to give the Good News of the Gospel.
“Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
His disciples obeyed their Lord’s command and faithfully went out and preached the Gospel. They were the messengers He chose to speak of Him. He entrusted them with the Gospel and empowered them to spread the Good News.
“And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them…”
Just as His disciples were sent out, the Lord has commissioned His children today to continue the work that His disciples did shortly after He ascended up to Heaven after His resurrection.
We are now the messengers He has chosen to spread the Gospel. It is up to us to faithfully follow His command until everyone hears the Good News.
“As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.”
Someone’s eternity may depend on your willingness to share the Gospel. What type of messenger are you?
