Proverbs 14:34-35
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.” The state of our nation, and frankly many of our churches, is a modern day example of the Truth within these verses. Judges 17:6 “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Not much has changed. We live in a day where it is encouraged to live as you please, whatever you deem to be right. Proverbs 21:2 “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” Our hearts are deceitful and not just wicked, but desperately wicked; yet we rarely admit it. We want to believe we know what is best, but in reality we know nothing in and of ourselves, so therefore we must cling to the Truth. The Truth that can only be found within the pages of the Word of God. Sin brings shame. The pleasures only last for a short season before the inevitable occurs…death. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God is His great mercy has removed the penalty of sin, of only we will accept the gift of His amazing grace. The grace that brings us salvation when we place our faith and trust in the finished work of Christ. His grace and mercy is shown to us because of the King of king’s great love for the world.
