April 10 - Make It Sure.

Matthew 27:65-66
“Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.”
 
After the body of Jesus was placed in the tomb which Joseph of Arimathaea had prepared, the chief priests and Pharisees were haunted by His words.
 
Matthew 17:22-23
“And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.”
 
Mark 10:33-34
“Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.”
 
Luke 9:22
“Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.”
 
John 2:19
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
 
They were desperate to do anything they possibly could to try and make sure what Jesus had prophesied did not happen. 
 
They were depending upon themselves.
They even had an excuse prepared…they would blame it on the disciples stealing the body of Jesus. 
 
Many today are depending upon themselves and their good works to get to Heaven. 
Many even have excuses prepared, just like the Pharisees.
They try to make sure that their way will be sufficient enough.
 
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
 
He is the Way, and the only way.
Nothing that we can do in and of ourselves can atone for our sin.
Only the blood of Jesus.
 
The Pharisees tried to make sure Jesus would not raise from the dead…but He did.
 
May today be the day you make it sure in your life.
2 Peter 1:10
“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
 
The Bible says we can know.
1 John 5:13
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
