“How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
The sweetness of the Word brings joy and praise to our hearts.
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.”
Our hearts can only rejoice as we are enlightened through the Truth of the Word of God.
“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”
If we are to get even a taste of how good God is, we must trust in His Word.
“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
What a reward the sweetness of the Word of God is to our souls when we take the time to taste It.
“My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.”
If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must taste the sweetness of the Word of God.
