Psalm 119:92
“Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.” The Bible teaches us to delight in the Lord through His Word. As we delight in Him, the Scriptures then become our delight; for He is the Word, and the Word is His Words. The Word gives us counsel. Psalm 119:24 “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.” The Word gives us life. Psalm 119:77 “Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.” The Word gives us comfort in trouble. Psalm 119:143 “Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.” The Word was given to us to teach us many things, including the ultimate purpose of our lives after salvation…to glorify God. Romans 15:4-6 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must make His Word our delight.
