John 11:25-26
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” Lazarus was dead. His sisters were mourning over the loss of their brother. Mary and Martha had faith that if only Jesus had been there before Lazarus died, He could have healed him. What they did not realize was that Jesus would in fact heal their brother, but through a greater miracle. One that would bring more people unto Himself. In the storms of our lives, God rarely, if ever, answers exactly like we hoped He would. Oftentimes, He has a greater purpose that can only be brought to pass in ways that only He understands…for His ways are higher than our ways. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, because He is the resurrection and the life. He brought Lazarus physical healing this passage, but one day later Lazarus would die physically again. Jesus is the Life, because He is the only One to have resurrected once and for all. When we believe in Him, we find life...everlasting life. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Believing in Jesus is more than just believing He exists and is the Son of God. There is a difference in knowing about someone, and actually knowing them. Knowing of or about Jesus is religion. Knowing Jesus is about a relationship with Him. We are all asked the same question: John 11:26 “...Believest thou this?” May our response be the same as Martha’s was that day. John 11:27 “She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.” He gives life to all who believe in Him. John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Bible Reading: Joshua 1-2 | Acts 7
