Mark 8:4
“And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?” Jesus had compassion on the multitude that had nothing to eat after faithfully following Him for three days. He did not want to send them away hungry. His disciples immediately doubted how a man could feed so many in the middle of the wilderness. But they forgot that although He was 100% man, He was also 100% God. A man could not…but God could. Jesus asked a simple question. Mark 8:5 “And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.” They answered honestly, and then gave Him everything that they had. Give what you have to the Lord. Jesus then commanded the people to sit down on the ground. Sit down, and wait on Him. Jesus then broke the loaves. What we give to Him often has to be broken in order to be used for His glory. Jesus then gave the pieces back to His disciples to be set before the people. After they had eaten, and were filled, there was much left over. Seven baskets full. They began with seven loaves, and left with seven baskets full. “…can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?” His disciples had that answer to their question. Sometimes we will find ourselves in the wilderness. Maybe physically, financially, emotionally, or spiritually. May we remember that the same God Who fed 4,000 in the wilderness with just seven loaves and a few fishes is the same today. He is Able to satisfy whatever need we have, whenever and wherever we find ourselves. Bible Reading: Nehemiah 5-6 | Hebrews 10
