Proverbs 4:23
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Some have called this the theme verse for the Book of Proverbs, for our wisdom depends on the state of our hearts. Deuteronomy 4:9 “Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;” The condition of our hearts affects every thing that we do. All of our actions depend on what resides in our hearts. How we speak… Proverbs 4:24 “Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.” What we look at… Proverbs 4:25 “Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” Where we go… Proverbs 4:26-27 “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” We must guard our hearts in order to keep our actions in check by being transformed and renewed daily through the Scriptures. Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” The Word of God discerns both our thoughts and the intentions that lie within our hearts. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Allow the Wisdom of the Word to pierce the hardness of your heart, and enable wise actions to be displayed. The power of the Word of God can change your life today and every day. Bible Reading: Esther 9-10 | James 4 | Proverbs 10
