Within the pages of the Word of God is where we find the doctrine for all that we are to believe, the foundation of our faith.
Proverbs 4:1-2 “Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.” That “good doctrine” is none other than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is given to us from God The Father. He not only gave His only begotten Son for us, but He gave us His Inspired Word so that we might know Him. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” What a precious gift from God that we are blessed and privileged to have the Scriptures in our hands, but we must ask ourselves this question…Is the Word within our hearts? Proverbs 4:3-4 “For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.” We must realize that it is possible to know the words of a verse without knowing the Word. We must apply the Truth to our hearts in order to see the power of the Word within our lives through our obedience to Him. Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Evaluate your heart and life today. Do you have the Word of God within your hands or within your heart? Bible Reading: Nehemiah 5-6 | Hebrews 9 | Proverbs 2
