August 23 - Never Satisfied.

Proverbs 30:15-16
“The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.”  
 
When someone cries, “Give, give”, most likely they are either desperate for help or simply full of greed. Regardless of the reason, at the root of their request is discontentment.
 
We will never be rich if we continuously covet more.
Where there is no satisfaction, there is misery and pain.
 
Luke 12:15
“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
 
If what we have is not enough, we are never satisfied.
The discontented are never satisfied with how much money they have, what they possess, their friends or their family. This is not the way that God has intended, or even desires, for us to live.
 
Instead of seeking goods or relationships to fulfill our need for more, we can choose to allow the Word of God to fill our hearts and minds.
 
Psalm 119:36
“Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.”
 
The Word brings contentment.
If we fill ourselves with Scripture, there will be no room for the wiles of the devil to tempt us into wanting more.
 
Philippians 4:11
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”
