Proverbs 30:17
“The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.” The first of the four generations previously mentioned in this chapter cursed their father and did not bless their mother. Proverbs 30:11 “There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.” Then in verse 17, we see the consequences for dishonoring their parents. The Lord takes the honoring of parents so seriously that, here, He sends birds to remove the eyesight of those who choose not to do so. Our eyes reveal light to us. Proverbs 20:20 “Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.” Without light, we are forced to be in darkness. Can you imagine? John 12:35 “Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.” Where would we be today if we did not have the Light? John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Our eyesight of Wisdom comes from the Light shining.
