Ruth 3:18
“Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.” Ruth had told Boaz he was a near kinsman, and he graciously comforted her that he would do what needed to be done, one way or another. Ruth 3:11 “And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.” There was a nearer kinsman, and Boaz must go to him first to see if he would redeem them. Ruth returned to Naomi and explained what had occured. Naomi then spoke words of wisdom to Ruth. Ruth 3:18 “Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall…” They had done what they could…and now all they could do was wait. Ever been there? Waiting is not fun. Instead of pacing the floors in worry or fear, Naomi told Ruth to sit and to sit still. What wise advice that we could all glean from! The best way we can sit still is to allow the Word of God to still the waters of our flesh. Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God…” Choose to sit still today. Bible Reading: Job 31-32 | Jude
