August 31 – Go & Do.
Deuteronomy 27:10 “Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the Lord thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.” Sacrifice. Exodus 5:17 “But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.” We are not to be idle in our work or service for the Lord. When we remain idle we cannot yield fruit or give glory to God. We can sacrifice our time for Him. How long do we spend wasting time on other things when we could spend it at His feet? Serve. 1 Kings 17:13 “And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.” Think of the blessing that the Widow of Zarephath would have missed if she had neglected to obey and serve Elijah. Not only would she have missed the miracle, she wouldn’t have managed to survive. God not only sustained her and her son, but He allowed them to witness a miracle each day of their lives until the famine was over. What miracles have we missed in our lives because we neglected to serve and obey? Show Mercy. Luke 10:37 “And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.” We want to be shown mercy when we have done wrong or disregarded something that was our responsibility; yet, when the tables are turned are we as willing to show mercy as we are to receive it? If we want to obtain mercy, we must show mercy to others. Forgive. Let go of the bitterness or anger. Have compassion. May we go & do as He has said today. Sacrifice. Serve. Show Mercy.
