August 4 - Wisdom Is Needful.

Ecclesiastes 12:13
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
 
This is our purpose in life, our “whole duty”. It begins with the Fear of the Lord, which as we have found is where wisdom begins.
 
Proverbs 4:7
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
 
The main thing for us is Wisdom. The best thing for us, and superior to us, is Wisdom. God gave us Wisdom when He gave us His Son, Jesus Christ.
 
He is the Beginning and the Ending. He sees what we do not see. He knows how our situation will end before it even begins.
 
Revelation 1:8
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
 
He is the First and the Last. We cannot find anyone or anything before Him or after Him that will satisfy our thirsty soul.
 
Revelation 22:13
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
 
He is Needful. In Him we live, move and have our being. Everything about us is dependent upon Him. We must allow Him to have His proper place within our lives.
 
Colossians 1:17-18
“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
 
Mary of Bethany chose what was best by spending time at His feet to hear His Word.
 
Luke 10:42
“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
 
The one thing needful for us is the Wisdom that is found in Him.
