We must evaluate how carefully we pay attention to what the Word of God says, instead of what we want to hear.
Proverbs 4:13 “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.” The Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is written within the pages of His Word that we hold in our hands. We must not only hear the Truth, but we must believe in the Gospel. Hebrews 4:2 “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” We are given a clear command of what to do when those who do not adhere to instruction of the Word of God approach us. Proverbs 4:14-15 “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.” Those who do not so must deal with the consequences of their actions. What will it take for them to realize what they are missing? Proverbs 4:16 “For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.” The Word of God warns us of these things so that we may avoid dealing with these circumstances. Each day of our lives we must choose whether or not we will avoid the path of the wicked and hold fast to the instruction within the Scriptures. Hold fast to the Wisdom of the Word today.
