There is a difference between hearing and listening. Our ears may hear all sorts of noises, but our mind chooses whether or not we are listening by what has our attention.
What has your attention today? Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” The Scriptures advise us that it is wise to allow our attention to be captivated by the Word of God. So much so that it not only affects our ears and our minds, but that His Words are found within the midst of our hearts. What we find within our hearts tells the most about us, or what we are passionate about. What would Jesus say has your attention today? Luke 6:45 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” May we seek every day to allow God and His Word to have the preeminence in our lives.
