Luke 2:36
“And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;” She. She was humble and faithful. She believed in the prophecies that she had heard for many years about the coming Messiah. Luke 2:37 “And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” She was old in age, but young in heart. She was devoted to serving God. She patiently and faithfully watched for His coming. Luke 2:38 “And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.” She was the first to proclaim Jesus as Christ. She spoke of the redemption that was found in Him to many in Jerusalem. After Mary and Joseph left the temple where Simeon blessed them and declared that Jesus was for a sign, she once again returned to faithfully fast and pray. But if was different then, for her faith had become sight. She had seen her Lord, and would spend the rest of her days telling of the redemption He offers. Anna serves as an example of true faithfulness and determination to tell others about the redemptive work of Christ. Bible Reading: Hosea 7-8 | Hebrews 12 | Psalm 124-125
