Proverbs 18:15
“The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. A wise person desires to get more wisdom. Those that are truly wise are never content with the wisdom they possess, for they understand that there is always more to learn and know. Solomon understood the importance of this, for, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he wrote of the need for more wisdom over and over again. Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 9:9 “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.” Proverbs 10:14 “Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.” Proverbs 15:14 “The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.” Solomon also understood where to find more wisdom, for his father had taught him and also wrote about it, under the Holy Spirit’s direction. Psalm 119:97-100 “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.” This father and son were used by God to pin down the recipe for us to increase our knowledge through the Wisdom of the Word. Outside of our salvation, there is no greater need for us to seek and understand, but to find and live by Wisdom. Bible Reading: Zechariah 11-14 | 1 John 4 | Proverbs 30
