Proverbs 17:2
“A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. Wisdom always wins against foolishness. The Lord tries our actions and motives as the Refiner of our hearts. He knows when we are acting wise or foolish. Proverbs 17:3 “The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.” Just as a son will always be a son, our relationship with God cannot change after it has been established. It is our fellowship with Him that is dependent upon our actions. Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” We must submit our wicked hearts to Him each day and seek to live a crucified life. He sees what is in our hearts and desires to make us more like Him. Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” When we die to ourselves, we begin to truly live by faith in what Christ did for us.
