Proverbs 17:4
“A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.” What we allow ourselves to listen to says as much about us as what we say. Our ears must be wise to disregard anything that is contrary to the Truth. Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” What we hear often affects our thoughts; therefore we must seek to listen to that which is good. Our hearing affects our thinking, which in turn affects our actions. Proverbs 17:5 “Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.” God made us all in His image. Regardless of our wealth, race, or gender, He created us for a reason. He loves the world, and we must show His love to each other, especially those in need. 1 John 3:16-17 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” We must listen wisely so that we can show the love of God to one another.
