Psalm 119:33
“Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.” There is no better teacher of the Scripture than the Lord. There is no telling what we could learn if we would simply ask Him to teach us before we even read a Word. Job 36:22 “Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?” As David prays for the Lord to teach His Word to him, he makes a commitment to show his sincerity. “I shall keep it unto the end.” He vows that if God would teach him the Way of the Word, he would obey the Word the rest of his days. He desired that the manner of his life to mirror what God’s Word said. Should we not want the same for our lives? Oh the benefits that are available to us if only we would obey the Scripture! Proverbs 3:1-2 “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” We can only obey the Word if we have first been taught what the Word says. When was the last time you asked Him to teach you? Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must ask Him to teach us so that we can obey the Word of God each day.
