"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."
Each of the first six days of creation the first act of God was spoken Word.
"And God said..." - verse 3
"And God said..." - verse 6
"And God said..." - verse 9
"And God said..." - verse 14
"And God said..." - verse 20
"And God said..." - verse 24
If this doesn't show us the importance of what God has to say, I'm not sure what would. Each day that God set out to do something, He first spoke.
Shouldn't we live the same way? Not listening to what we ourselves have to say, but finding out what God has to say before we begin each day. Unlike the Old Testament patriarchs who lived by faith and waited for God to move or show His Almighty Power in some way, we have been given the very Words of God Almighty at our fingertips. We can hold It in our hands, and read with our God-given eyeballs what our Father has for us.
In verse 26, we read "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:" Notice the plurality in that verse. God the Father wasn't alone when He created all things in six days, otherwise He would have said "Let me make man in my image, after my likeness". The Triune God proves that He is a Trinity just 26 verses into the first chapter of His inspired Word.
God the Father is clearly represented in this passage.
God the Son, Jesus Christ Himself, is present as the very Words that God the Father spoke as He created each facet of His creation. We find this in John 1. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3
God the Holy Spirit is the Active Agent that created all that we see in those first six days of creation. This completes the presence of The Triune God as He the Creator gave us as believers our home away from Home.
