February 22 - Oil For The Light

Exodus 25:6
"Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,"

Exodus 27:20
"And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always."

Within the pages of Scripture, oil is used as a type of the Holy Spirit. With this in mind, we see in our passages today that in order for the light to shine, it must have oil.

We as Christians are called to be Lights for Christ in the darkness of this world.

In order for our Light to shine, we must have the Oil inside of us. The moment we trusted Christ, the Oil of the Holy Spirit was placed within us to guide us and help us shine our Light. God is glorified when our Lights shine!

Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

We must daily yield ourselves to the power of the Holy Spirit for it is He who does the convicting. He draws people to Jesus. It is up to us to let our Light shine, so that He can do the work of salvation within a person's heart. Without the Holy Spirit's power, our witness is in vain. We need oil in our Light!
