Hebrews 11:8
“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” By faith Abraham obeyed. There is no record that he questioned God, he simply obeyed. The Bible tells us in I Samuel 15 after Saul and the Israelites disobeyed the LORD of hosts’ command to utterly destroy all that the Amalekites had, that “to obey is better than sacrifice.” The children of Israel had good intentions; they had planned to use their newly found items to sacrifice unto the LORD. But God didn’t want their sacrifice if it meant disobeying Him. He desires obedience from us just as much as He desired it from the Israelites. Abraham was commanded to make a sacrifice. He knew what details that entailed. He knew the gruesome reality of a burnt offering. Yet, he was willing to take his only begotten son up on that mountain, and lay him on the altar. When Isaac asked “where is the lamb?” Abraham boldly responded, “God will provide.” What could the Lord do with us if we had the faith of Abraham? When the Lord impresses something upon your heart, do you question Him? Or do you willingly obey? Abraham rose up early in the morning after he received the command from God. His obedience is for our example. God wants us to take a step of obedience through faith in Him so that He can work His will for our lives. If we will do God’s will today, He promises to reveal His will in the future. He just asks us to trust and obey Him. Abraham was willing to sacrifice every thing he had in obedience. God wants our willingness to sacrifice every thing for Him, by faith. Bible Reading: Leviticus 15-16 | Luke 5 | Psalm 23
