Psalm 9:1-2
“I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.” Four “I will” statements are found in the first two verses of Psalm 9. What purpose they can bring to our walk with the Lord, if only we will determine within our hearts to apply them to our lives. They are what some could call simple principles, yet they are so profound and powerful. Will you determine today to live a life of “I will…”? Psalm 119:16 “I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.” I will praise Him. David sought to praise His Lord with everything in him…”with my whole heart”. Are we that dedicated to praising Him? Many times we are guilty of only partial praise. I will speak of His works. How can we not but speak of the works of the Lord? David said they are marvellous. How can we not agree? The Lord has done so many truly marvellous things in our lives; yet so often, we neglect to thank Him privately…much less publicly. I will be glad and rejoice in Him. Even on those days when things do not go the way we had hoped, we can choose to be glad and rejoice simply because we know Him. I will sing praise to His Name. When we praise the Lord with our whole heart, we cannot help but sing praise to His Name. The Name above all names. That Name is Jesus. He is the Reason we have a song to sing. Determine today to say, “I will”. Bible Reading: Leviticus 15-16 | Luke 5
