Isaiah 38:2-5
“Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.” Hezekiah is an example for us to use our days wisely. He was sick unto death, and after he had gotten the news that he was to set his house in order, he begged God to intervene. The Lord heard his prayer and the fervency of his heart, and graciously gave Hezekiah 15 more years to live for Him. Today, on this extra day on the calendar, the Lord has given us another day to live for and serve Him. What will you do with this “extra” time? This is a good day to reevaluate our priorities. What do we put first in our lives? What is our passion and purpose in life? For some it’s their career, their family, their children, their desire to be well known or famous, their need for attention or applause. All of these are temporal things. Are you redeeming the time that God has given you? Are you using the bulk of your days to serve Him or to serve yourself? Let’s use February 29th as a jumpstart into having an eternal perspective on how we spend our time and resources. We can use our time to lay up treasures in Heaven, or we can invest ourselves in the things of this world. Will you regret not having done more for Christ? We need to give everything that we have to God. If we are still doubtful about the things we could achieve when we are with God, I am sure that your life will be incomplete. You may feel that you have everything already, but at the bottom of the heart you will see that there is still an emptiness that you wish to be gone. You will never realize it until you have needed the importance of having God in your life. I love this story because there was a realization in it. I am hoping that those who still don’t have Gd in their lives will suddenly change!
