Exodus 14:22
“And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.” In the midst of our sea, we can walk on dry ground to safety and deliverance when we trust that He is our only Hope and allow Him to direct us through. Imagine the walls of water that were on either side of the children of Israel that day. Perhaps they could see ocean life through those walls like we would experience at an aquarium; yet, there were no windows installed to hold the water back, God Almighty did that for them. Perhaps they could touch the walls of water, yet it did not cause any to splash on the ground. Their feet were dry as they walked. Isn’t that just like the Lord, that in the midst of our sea He calms us to where we do not even feel the effects of the water around us. We would drown if He did not hold the waters back. Oftentimes, we focus on the miracle which resulted in the deliverance of the children of Israel, and we should; but sometimes we neglect the Truth of the Egyptians coming into the midst of the sea as well. Exodus 14:23 “And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.” Their enemies pursued them even in the midst of the sea. People can be so ruthless that they even persecute us while we are in the midst of our sea. The Lord fought for them just as He had promised. Exodus 14:14 “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:25 “And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.” He will also fight for us, if only we will choose to hold our peace and let Him take care of our situation. Just as the Lord had Moses stretch out his hand over the sea to divide it, He directed that the same thing be done once the children of Israel were safely on the other side. Exodus 14:27 “And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.” The Lord will defeat our enemies in the midst of our sea, and may even use the sea itself to do so. Exodus 14:29 “But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.” They were delivered. They were redeemed. They were amazed. Exodus 14:31 “And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.” May the seas of life be used to cause us to fear the Lord and believe on Him.
