Proverbs 20:19
“He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.” There are two types of people that can hinder us walking in Wisdom: Talebearers Sharing is not always a good thing. Those who tell others’ secrets are sure to tell yours too. The best way to stop a secret from being told is to keep it to ourselves. Flatterers There is nothing good about us, so when we receive only compliments from someone, they may have an ulterior motive. Flattery only goes so far before it becomes dangerous. Our mouths can get and keep us in trouble; especially when we allow them to run in the same direction as a talebearer or flatterer. James 3:5-6 “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” James 3:10 “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” In the very first chapter of the Book of Proverbs, Solomon wisely tells us to refrain from giving in to the temptation of others. Proverbs 1:10 “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Meddling only leads us in the wrong direction. Bible Reading: Exodus 17-18 | Matthew 13 | Proverbs 3
