Proverbs 19:16
“He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.” The importance of obeying the Word of God cannot be overstated; for by the Truth of the Scriptures the very foundation of our faith is established. We either believe that His Word is true or we do not. The degree of our belief is shown in our obedience. James 4:17 “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” Our love for the Lord is best shown when we obey what His Word says. John 14:21-23 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” Jesus Christ told His disciples that the authenticity of their love for Him would cause them to obey. How genuine is our love for Him today? 1 John 2:3-6 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” Bible Reading: Genesis 25-26 | John 13 | Proverbs 13
