Galatians 2:20
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." This verse is much easier to read than it is to live, isn’t it? Life is much easier when we are dead to ourselves and Christ is living for us, but how many times do we die to ourselves only to have picked ourselves back up again before the end of the day, or even the hour? In his book, “The Crucified Life”, A.W. Tozer defined the crucified life as a life wholly given over to the Lord in absolute humility and obedience: a sacrifice pleasing to the Lord. He goes on to simplify and describe it practically as a life absolutely committed to following after Christ Jesus. To be more like Him. To think like Him. To act like Him. To love like Him. To do that, we must be dead to our flesh and own desires. Romans 6 reminds us, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin…Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Commit yourself to dying each day so that Christ can live through you, and make you more alive than we could ever be by ourselves.
