Psalm 119:20
“My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.” Do we long for opening up the Word of God and dwelling in His presence? “the longing” An earnest desire to know and fully understand the Truth is pleasing to the Lord. The Psalmist desired this to the point that his soul was breaking. Psalm 42:1-2 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” “at all times” A constant craving for the Word will satisfy our souls. May we long to read The Word of God not just every now and then, but constantly and habitually with fervor and purpose. A habit can only be formed when performed over and over again in a consistent manner. Our spiritual habits may well tell us the condition of our hearts. Psalm 84:2 “My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must have a longing for the Word of God.
