Psalm 119:21
“Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.” A proud person magnifies themselves above those around them. One of the six things which the Lord hates is a proud look. When we have pride within our hearts we cannot please the Lord. James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” Pride will keep us from the Word of God. Likewise, keeping ourselves away from the Word will develop pride in our hearts. We must remove anything within our lives that causes us to do anything contrary to what the Scriptures tell us. Proverbs 19:27 “Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.” Acknowledging pride within ourselves should persuade us to cling more closely to the Scriptures. Luke 11:28 “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must replace the pride within our hearts with the Word of God.
